This painting was for Tiger Beer’s Advertising campaign throughout 2012-2013. Few weeks ago I received an email from a Tiger Translate’s producer asking if I would like to be one of 20 artists who would be representing 20 cities across Asia. I was invited to represent Ulan-Bator, Mongolia, my home town where I grew up. It was a great pleasure and an honor and I was excited to paint a part of my home town.

Ulan-Bator is one of the fastest developing cities in Asia and I wanted to capture its energy in my illustration by including young people and the buildings that are traditional and modern.

I also wanted to show power of the tiger by placing it in the center of the composition and giving it a lots of details.

I was painting this piece on 42′ x 30″ illustration board and had the hardest time getting around it. The thin illustration board was bending every time I move it. Sometimes I had to lay it on the floor or a table or on the easel. Next time when I do a big piece it will either be on a canvas or on a wooden board.

Marie Antoinette / t-shirt design

I just received a t-shirt sample i did the design a few months back for an apparel company Faith & Fortune. The design was done in Adobe Illustrator and screen printed on the t-shirt.

I think it looks great!

50th Annual Illustration West Exhibition is Open!

I’m really proud to have three pieces in the SILA‘s 50th Annual Illustration West Exhibition at Gallery Nucleus.

Banshee, Vampire and Mongolian Death Worm are the selected pieces in the exhibition from the Illustration West 50 Annual competition.

Come out and see the show at the Gallery Nucleus. Exhibition is open through March 30th – April 4th.

Here are few process photos of my latest self-promotional piece “Birth”. I haven’t painted much butterflies before really enjoyed painting them so I am thinking about doing series of butterfly illustrations.
Spring is here and it is time to enjoy seeing pretty butterflies flying around!

Siberian Beauty – framed and installed

A few months ago I completed a commissioned painting “Siberian Beauty” for my client Gary. Every time I complete a commission, I itch to find out if the client is pleased with the result and how it transforms in the client’s home. Yesterday, Gary sent me a photo of the painting, framed and installed in his home.

Thanks for sharing Gary… I think the frame suits so well on the painting and looks fabulous.

Opening reception – “Illustrators 54″, Society of Illustrators

I was glad to be able to attend opening of “Illustrators 54″ at Society of Illustrators – New York last Friday.
The opening was great and I am excited to be having my “Werewolf” next to many great illustrators’ work.
“Werewolf” was selected in the Uncommissioned category of the competition.

Thank you Ann-Marie, who is a current owner of the work, for letting me borrow the work for the show.

Siberian Beauty

It is always exciting to get an email from a client to illustrate beautiful woman and animals. This painting has been commissioned by my client Gary. The painting is a gift to his wife Lena, who is originally from Siberia, Russia. I was thrilled to work on this piece because it reminded me bit of Russia and its culture that I grew up around, as some of you know Russian borders with Mongolia. Gary explained that it would be nice to include some of Siberian nature and animals along with his beautiful wife Lena in the painting. So I decided to include a Russian brown bear, a Siberian tiger and birch trees and a small village in the background.

My work has been featured in the Breakthrough Spotlight: Staff Picks

Few months ago I entered an art competition “Breakthrough” from Richard Solomon Artists Representative. The contest was the first illustration competition that launched by an artist’s representative. With the help of 20 judges, all working industry pros, they judged 400 + entries from 15 + countries. Michal Dziekan, an amazing young illustrator from Poland won the competition and is going to be represented by the agent in the future.

I’m very honored to be featured in this spotlight from the Richard Solomon Breakthrough contest as one of the staff picks. Thank you Richard Solomon for an opportunity to display my art! This gives me lots of encouragement!!!

Richard Solomon: “Now that the Breakthrough Contest is over, we, the staff over at the Richard Solomon’s office, got a chance to sit down and look over all of the submissions from this year’s contest. We picked out those people that in our opinion also deserved a little spotlight even though they didn’t win. These artists are also among the highest scoring of the competition. They were chosen by Ana Gomez (graphic designer), Kofong Hsia (assistant), and Anastasiya Tarasenko (assistant) collectively.”
